El Museo del Barrio

New Construction: Established in 1969, El Museo del Barrio is New York’s leading Latino cultural institution. In 2009 it expanded its mission to represent the diversity of art and culture in all of the Caribbean and Latin America. The museum’s new facilities are located on Museum Mile on 5th Avenue. As part of a $35 million dollar renovation of its Ground Floor Lobby, Art Gallery, Museum Shop, Offices and Cafeteria,
KOHN ARCHITECTURE worked with Gruzen Sampton, LLP on multiple projects and El Museo Del Barrio to design, renovate and enlarge their 12,500 sq. ft. of offices, development and curatorial facilities, and provided furniture selection and coordination services. In addition KOHN ARCHITECTURE developed multiple Place of Assembly plans for the entire museum complex, and specialty graphics.
